License
Effective September 2026. This is a service agreement written in plain English. It governs the files, feeds, and endpoints you buy from US Energy Map ("we", "us"). The free interactive map and public pages are governed by their own privacy policy and normal web use — nothing here restricts them.
The Dataset means the compiled project records we deliver to you (Excel, CSV, GeoJSON, or via endpoint), including derived columns, the change log, and the schema and data dictionary. The underlying facts about power plants are not ours — most battery records derive from the U.S. Energy Information Administration's public-domain EIA-860M inventory, and data center records are compiled from public disclosures. What you pay for is our compilation, enrichment, verification, refresh schedule, delivery, and support — the service, delivered as files.
You may: use the Dataset for your own analysis, models, presentations, internal tools, and reports; share charts, summaries, and conclusions derived from it; keep the files you downloaded after a subscription ends.
You may not: redistribute, resell, sublicense, or publicly post the files or any substantial extract of them; load them into a product, API, or dataset that others access; share your access link or files with people outside your single seat. One license covers one named person. Teams need one seat each, or a commercial tier.
You may: everything above, for your whole organization; embed the Dataset (or the scoped subset you licensed) in customer-facing reports, dashboards, and tools — one product on Region / Sector, all your products on Full Feed; store and process it in your systems; deliver derived outputs to your customers.
You may not: resell or sublicense the Dataset as a standalone data product; provide bulk export of our records to your customers; represent our records as your own primary research; remove attribution where the order form requires it.
Governed by these terms plus an order form covering volume, uptime commitment, endpoint scope, and any build-and-transfer of pipelines. Where the order form and this page disagree, the order form wins.
Single-user tiers: none required, though "Source: usenergymap.com" is appreciated when you publish charts. Commercial tiers: attribute as specified in your order form (default: "Project data: US Energy Map" wherever our records are shown to end users). Do not imply we endorse your product or that we are affiliated with any operator or government agency.
We may end a license if you break these terms and don't fix it within 14 days of being told. On termination you stop using the Dataset in any product and delete copies, except archival copies kept for legal reasons and reports already delivered to your customers.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA. If a clause is unenforceable the rest still applies. This page plus any order form is the whole agreement about the Dataset. Questions: hello@usenergymap.com.
